What Happened in the Ice Hunter arc?
The Ice Hunter Arc in “One Piece” involves the Straw Hat Pirates encountering the Accino Family, a group of bounty hunters, while they are on their new ship, the Thousand Sunny. The Accino Family tries to trick the Straw Hats, but their plan is foiled. The Ice Hunter Arc also features Salchow of the Accino Family launching a trap called “trap kamome” to lure the Straw Hats into a field of icebergs.
The Straw Hat Pirates learn about the Phoenix Pirates and their fate in the New World. The Phoenix Pirates were heavily beaten and lost their flag to the Accino Family, becoming their soldiers. When their captain Puzzle recovers, he decides that they will no longer be pirates and will remain as the Accino Family’s underlings, but his decision is not supported by his crew. While Luffy and Chopper were on the Phoenix Pirates’ ship, the rope holding the ship close to the Thousand Sunny breaks due to mysterious underwater eruptions.
The Thousand Sunny is trapped by the members of the Accino Family, Lil, Salchow, Arbell, and Hockera, who claim that escape is impossible and that the crew will all die. However, Franky manages to free the ship using a “Coup de Burst”. Salchow then calls one of the twin brothers, Brindo or Campacino, to inform him of the situation. Before leaving, Accino reminds Salchow to take the flag first.
While the Straw Hat Pirates are trapped, Lil’s flying fish manages to steal their flag. The crew realizes this but decides not to inform Luffy to avoid getting scolded by him. They then notice that Zoro, who helped them by cutting through one of the icebergs but got lost, is still missing.
However, Luffy’s will to protect his friends and retrieve their flag is strong, and he manages to use his powers of rubber and magnetic energy to defeat the two brothers and rescue his friends.
The Straw Hats then set out to retrieve their flag from Lovely Land and eventually succeed, with the help of the former Phoenix Pirates. In the end, the Straw Hats continue their journey, with a newfound respect for each other and their determination to become the greatest pirate crew in the world, stronger than ever.
In episode 333 of “One Piece”, the Straw Hat Pirates face off against the Accino Family. The crew, who were previously captured, escape their prison with the help of Franky’s Coup de Vent and some cola. Luffy arrives and battles the Accino Family while the rest of the crew searches for the room with Don Accino’s pirate flag collection. Robin is led by Lil to a greenhouse that she says leads to her father’s room.
Meanwhile, Zoro finally finds Accino’s room. Luffy confronts Don Accino and demands his flag, but he is unable to land a hit due to Don Accino’s ability to heat up any part of his body. Chopper and Jiro go into the family mansion while the rest of the Phoenix Pirates fight Campacino. Luffy eventually defeats Don Accino using a Gomu Gomu no Bazooka with an ice slab. The Straw Hat Pirates come out victorious, and Puzzle defeats Campacino. The Domo Penguins try to steal the Phoenix Pirates’ ship, but they secure it in the end.
